Oldham News | Main News | Oldham kids bag two top awards in World Book Day competition

Three Oldham children have picked up top prizes in a national competition to celebrate World Book Day.
This year's World Book day looks a little different, with many schoolchildren still studying at home.
Traditionally, children dress up as their favourite characters from books, with thousands of pictures shared online and across social media.  The day is commemorated in over 100 countries around the globe.

In what has been an inspiring creative competition for youngsters across the UK, Bargain Max has now announced the five winners, with 2 entries from Oldham coming in second and fourth place.

Adnan Majeed from Oldham entered his son Muhammad, into the competition with his creation of the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz as his World Book Day Hero.  The 7-year-old came second in the competition, winning a £50.00 Bargain Max voucher. He created it using tin foil to make an axe and hat, as well as covering himself in it to become the heroic character.
