Victoria has recorded one new locally acquired case overnight. Image: AAP 1 of 1 5370537724001 Victoria has reported one new locally acquired case of COVID-19 overnight and one case in hotel quarantine as four states across the nation scramble to contain outbreaks of the highly infectious Delta variant of the virus. The one new local case was a primary close contact of a previously reported case linked to the Epping Private Hospital outbreak and had been in isolation throughout their infectious period. There are now just nine active cases across the state, but health minister Martin Foley said with more than 12 million Australians in lockdown, restrictions across Victoria would not be eased for the next seven days to "make sure we keep Victorians safe".
