WXXV News 25 July 12, 2021 The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks has concluded a heightened awareness and enforcement campaign known as Operation Dry Water. Operation Dry Water is a year-round campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of boating under the influence. This year we saw a record low number of boating-related incidents over the holiday weekend enforcement period from July 2 nd to the 5 th. Conservation officers were active statewide conducting saturation patrols and responded to three boating incidents with no fatalities. In addition, there were no reported drownings across the state. They concluded the holiday period with the following statistics: 272 total citations, 14 alcohol and drug violations, 11 BUI arrests, and 2,098 safety checks.
