With increasing focus on hotel quarantine as a major risk to Australia's otherwise low-level of coronavirus spread, the Opposition is calling for the Federal Government to take a greater role in quarantine arrangements.
Further, caps on the number of arrivals each state and territory is willing to take is limiting the number of Australians who can return home.
Opposition Health Spokesman Chris Bowen says there needs to be a national quarantine surge capacity, to get as many Australians home as quickly as possible.
He says it's also a way to ensure quarantine arrangements pose less of a risk of leaking coronavirus out into the community.
