Created: June 16, 2021 05:37 PM (ABC 6 News) - In May and early June every year, you may hear "Click It or Ticket" a lot. That's because of the national campaign on drivers not wearing their seatbelts. 112 Minnesotans died last year because they were not wearing their seatbelts. That's the highest number since 2012. During the two-week Click It or Ticket campaign that just ended, law enforcement cited over 2,000 people across the state for not buckling up. "We have to put a big asterisk beside not only 2020, but also 2021 because traffic patterns are not the same as they were before that. When I look at it proportionally, I think it's about what we would expect to see," Mike Hanson, director of the Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety, said.
