Published December 12, 2020, 12:39 PM Four-hundred thirty-two boxes of smuggled cigarettes valued at P13,188.411 were intercepted while in transit onboard a motorized banca in Cotabato City last Dec. 7, the Bureau of Customs (BoC) said Saturday. According to the Port of Davao, the shipment was intercepted while entering the country through the Rio Grande River in Cotabato City aboard a motorized banca marked “Al-Shameem.” The goods were carrying cigarette brands such as Fort, Bravo, Canon, New Berlin, Astro, Famous, and Aries. A warrant of seizure and detention has been issued against the shipment in violation of Republic Act No. 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
