BOC NAIA, Davao, Cebu conduct inter-port meeting on vaccine arrival preparedness

PASAY CITY, Feb. 17 Bureau of Customs Port of NAIA, Port of Davao, and Port of Cebu conducted an inter-port meeting last February 11, 2021 to ensure that the country s airports in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are fully prepared in expediting arrival, customs clearances, and handling of the Covid-19 vaccines.
Customs pre-clearance process, documentary requirements for importation and donation, expedite handling, and logistical challenges, were all comprehensively discussed to ensure that the release of the vaccines will be standard, adopted, and implemented in all ports where the vaccines may arrive.
Deputy Commissioner Atty. Edward James Dybuco and NAIA District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan shared information on the recently completed Covid-19 vaccine arrival simulation held last February 10, 2021, while both Davao District Collector Atty. Erastus Sandino B. P13-M smuggled cigarettes seized in Cotabato City

Four-hundred thirty-two boxes of smuggled cigarettes valued at P13,188.411 were intercepted while in transit onboard a motorized banca in Cotabato City last Dec. 7, the Bureau of Customs (BoC) said Saturday.
According to the Port of Davao, the shipment was intercepted while entering the country through the Rio Grande River in Cotabato City aboard a motorized banca marked “Al-Shameem.”
The goods were carrying cigarette brands such as Fort, Bravo, Canon, New Berlin, Astro, Famous, and Aries.
A warrant of seizure and detention has been issued against the shipment in violation of Republic Act No. 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA). ....
