Yet another Palm Beach resident has come forward with a multi-zeroed gift to Villanova University. Martin "Marty" McGuinn has given $10 million to the university, the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, president of Villanova, announced this week. McGuinn's gift is earmarked for the advancement of faculty research and the support of student veterans. He is a veteran himself, having served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. The retired chairman and chief executive officer of Mellon Financial Corp. — now BNY Mellon — graduated from the university's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 1964 and from its law school in 1967.
