Multnomah County extends eviction moratorium December 17 2020 The unanimous vote comes days before the Legislature is expected to extend the statewide pause during a special session. Multnomah County extended its eviction moratorium Dec. 17, ensuring thousands of renters who have fallen behind on payment can stay in their homes through the winter. By a unanimous vote Thursday morning, Dec. 17, the board of county commissioners voted to extend the moratorium through July 2. Tenants have a six-month grace period to pay missed rent. "While the great news about vaccines represents light at the end of the tunnel, we are in no way out of the woods," said County Chair Deborah Kafoury. "Extending the state of emergency today is an acknowledgement of the reality that the health, safety and well-being of our entire community, and especially the most vulnerable, continue to be threatened by this virus."
