Surge in coronavirus cases, deaths continues across Oregon
State officials report 844 new, confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases, along with eight new deaths.
There are eight new COVID-19 related deaths in Oregon, raising the state's death toll to 2,522, the Oregon Health Authority reported Friday, May 7.
The Oregon Health Authority also reported 844 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. Friday, bringing the state total to 189,986.
As in past weeks, the tri-county metro area is the heaviest hit.
The new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases reported Friday include hotspots in Multnomah County (with 146 cases) Clackamas County (104) and Washington County (94).
