The JMU Department of Political Science and the Center for Civic Engagement collaborated to host a discussion about policy, politics and racial justice on Friday, Feb. 12. Speakers included Megan Ming Francis, an associate professor of political science at the University of Washington, Jamiia Michener, an associate professor of government at Cornell University and Justin Zimmerman, a doctoral political science student at Northwestern University. Each speaker gave a presentation on a different aspect of racial justice and political science before addressing questions written by viewers in the chat feature of the Facebook Live. Michener kicked off the event with a presentation about how public policies at the national, state and local levels are racialized.Â
