(Shutterstock) WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA — A number of road configuration changes in the Burke and West Springfield areas are proposed as part of the 2021 Paving and Restriping Program by the Virginia Department of Transportation. VDOT repaves hundreds of roads in Fairfax County each year. This program is done in collaboration with the Fairfax County Department of Transportation to implement parts of the county's comprehensive plan to improve traffic safety for different road users. Improvements added during repaving can include bike lanes, parking lanes, crosswalks and more. Paving work is expected to begin in April and finish in November.
