LAHORE: The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) on Tuesday demanded the provincial government to restore the local government system in the province without further delay, as ordered by the Supreme Court. A meeting presided over by PbBC vice chairman Chaudhry Amjad Iqbal expressed concern over the non-implementation of a judgement issued by the apex court that envisages restoration of the LG system in Punjab. A statement issued by the council said the meeting noted that the government by not restoring the LG system had committed contempt of the court. The council urged the government to immediately reinstate the local bodies and hand over the powers to the elected representatives.
