Peace journalism can contribute to Nigeria's progress if adopted - Dr Obateru

A veteran journalist and former Head of Department of Mass Communication, University of Jos, Dr Taye Obateru, says peace journalism if adopted, has the potential to contribute to peaceful co-existence in the country.
He said journalists could be objective while reporting conflicts in a manner that would not exacerbate the situation.
Obateru disclosed this while delivering a paper titled: Peace Journalism and its Risks, at the maiden training workshop of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau State Council.
He said, “The well-being of society should override other considerations in line with normative arguments which the peace journalism model shares.
