Pedestrian fatally struck by train in Eugene Updated Apr 03, 2021; EUGENE — A pedestrian died after being hit by a train Friday in Eugene. At 2:44 p.m., a man was reported to have been walking on the train tracks and was hit by an oncoming train near Chambers Street and Railroad Boulevard, KATU (2) reported. The man, who was in his mid-50s, appeared not to hear the train, which had activated its horn and whistle and applied emergency breaks. Eugene police responded to investigate. The train line’s traffic was stopped. The Lane County Medical Examiner responded to take jurisdiction. Police are withholding the man’s identity until his family has been notified.
