James Box I recently moved to Oklahoma City from Cushing. I am a musician who also happens to have schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. I was diagnosed as being on the schizophrenia spectrum when I was 31. I am now almost 35. Schizophrenia has positive, negative and cognitive symptoms, while the symptoms of bipolar disorder include mania and depression. Even with all of the medication that I take, the negative symptoms associated with schizophrenia never go away. Because of this, I have a very hard time functioning in society. The last time I played a show was 10 years ago. Since then, I have more or less stayed inside of my residence at all times. If it wasn't for my family, I would be homeless or dead.
