BARTONVILLE — A Peoria man died Friday after a head-on wreck on U.S. Route 24, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said. Christopher L. Coleman, 47, was driving a midsize sedan westbound on Route 24 near West Pfeiffer Road when he crossed the center line about 5:45 a.m., Harwood said. The sedan hit an eastbound truck head-on, causing the car to roll multiple times, Harwood said. Coleman was taken to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria in critical condition. Despite "aggressive resuscitative efforts," he was pronounced dead at 6:39 a.m., Harwood said. The cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma injuries, Harwood said.
