Updated POLICE were called to Darlington Railway Station today after reports a person had collapsed. Witnesses told The Northern Echo they saw one person being stretchered away from the scene and were told by emergency services they had taken ill. A spokesperson from the British Transport Police said officers were called to the station at around 2.35pm. Paramedics also attended the incident, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers said the incident is not being treated as suspicious. An air ambulance from the Great North Air Ambulance Service landed at Darlington Cricket Club but left with only paramedics on board.
