File photo of the Bombay High Court. In the wake of increasing Covid-19 cases in Goa, a local resident has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court, seeking details of the state government's preparations for the third wave of coronavirus infections. The petitioner, Nandgopal Kudchadkar, argued that from just 50 cases per day in January, the state's daily case tally has risen to 4,000 cases per day in May. "This astronomical rise in cases has exposed the state's lack of preparedness." He said, "In the last few weeks, there has been an acute shortage of oxygen, oxygen concentrators and ventilators at Goa Medical College as well as in district hospitals. This has led to many deaths."
