Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to formulate a national policy to stop people from crowding at one place for social, political and religious purposes in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Thackeray made this suggestion in a virtual meeting held by the prime minister on Friday during which he took stock of the coronavirus situation.
Even as the government is battling the COVID-19 pandemic, the crowding at public places is a huge challenge. The Centre should conceptualise a national-level policy to prevent public crowding from happening in the name of social, political and religious gatherings, the chief minister said. ....

PIL filed in Bombay HC seeking details from Goa govt how it plans to fight Covid 3rd wave

In the wake of increasing Covid-19 cases in Goa, a local resident has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court, seeking details of the state government s preparations for the third wave of coronavirus infections.
The petitioner, Nandgopal Kudchadkar, argued that from just 50 cases per day in January, the state s daily case tally has risen to 4,000 cases per day in May. This astronomical rise in cases has exposed the state s lack of preparedness.
He said, In the last few weeks, there has been an acute shortage of oxygen, oxygen concentrators and ventilators at Goa Medical College as well as in district hospitals. This has led to many deaths. ....

After the High Court of Karnataka cautioned the Chief Secretary about passing a drastic order on the government’s failure, the State government has finally set up the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) 13 years after the Disaster Management Act, 2005, came into force.
In his affidavit filed before the court, Chief Secretary P. Ravi Kumar said that a new account, by the name of SDRF, has been created, and the funds available with the heads of the existing Management of Natural Disaster, Contingency Plans in disaster-prone areas would transferred to it. ....
