Connecticut State Police Troop D barracks notified the Plainfield Police Department of a bomb threat at the Moosup post office Monday morning. Police, along with the Moosup Fire Department, immediately responded at approximately 9:45 a.m. to the threat. The roadway was closed and those inside the building were safely evacuated. Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad searched the property with the aid of explosives detection K9s. No threat was found and the office was reopened. Upon further investigation, it was found that an elderly male had contacted the post office and the conversation had was misinterpreted. Plainfield Police and the United States Postal Inspection Service determined that "no threat was made and there is no risk to the community.
