A pilot was forced to make an emergency landing Friday morning when their aircraft lost power after taking off from the Salisbury Regional Airport. Maryland State Police received a call at about 11 a.m. from Wicomico County administrators reporting that a private plane had declared an emergency after taking off from the airport, according to a news release. The pilot attempted to return to the airport, police said, but had to perform "a power off controlled landing" next to the airport property instead. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the single engine 1970 NAVION "H" left the airport via runway 32 and then lost power, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency with the tower.
