Plane makes emergency landing near Salisbury airport

A pilot was forced to make an emergency landing Friday morning when their aircraft lost power after taking off from the Salisbury Regional Airport.
Maryland State Police received a call at about 11 a.m. from Wicomico County administrators reporting that a private plane had declared an emergency after taking off from the airport, according to a news release.
The pilot attempted to return to the airport, police said, but had to perform a power off controlled landing next to the airport property instead.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that the single engine 1970 NAVION H left the airport via runway 32 and then lost power, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency with the tower. ....

Plane makes successful emergency landing in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police say a plane had to make an emergency landing in Salisbury Friday morning.
At around 11 a.m., Maryland State Police received a call from Wicomico County Administrators that a private airplane had declared an emergency on takeoff from the Wicomico County/Salisbury Regional Airport. The aircraft was said to be returning back to the airport, and shortly after the notification, the aircraft conducted a power off controlled landing adjacent to the airport property.
Officials say a preliminary investigation has revealed that the single engine plane departed the airport via runway 32 when it experienced a loss of power. The pilot then declared an emergency with the tower. In an attempt to return to the airport, and after realizing there was not enough lift to circle around, the pilot decided to land the aircraft down in an open field next to the airport and outside the fenced area of the facility. ....
