Police charge man over Australia's only unsolved police shooting Queensland detectives have charged a man over Australia's only unsolved police shooting. Senior Constable Neill Scutts was shot in the groin when two men robbed a bank in Browns Plains, south of Brisbane, in March 1999. The officer had to undergo emergency surgery after the bullet passed through his buttocks and narrowly missed a major artery. Two men wearing plastic masks and surgical gloves fired at a second police officer before fleeing the bank with a sum of cash and two staff members as hostages.
