Officers took to social media to say they were conducting operations targeting speeding drivers. On Tuesday police were on Marshalls Cross Road and three tickets were issued, with one vehicle recorded as going at 41 mph on the 30 mph zone. In a Facebook post, St Helens Police said: "Another week of action and this morning Local Policing Team 2 conducted a speeding operation on Marshalls Cross Road. "Please remember that this road is now a 30mph zone. 3 tickets were issued and the highest speed was the first vehicle that was scanned. Slowdownforviolet". One vehicle was clocked at 41 mph Meanwhile, today (Wednesday) police were on Newton Road, Billinge where one driver was spotted travelling at 51 mph.
