The harmonized sales tax is a “lose-lose” situation, says B.C. Federation of Labour president Jim Sinclair. He urged about 75 delegates at a federation conference in Prince George Friday to vote against the HST. “They haven’t fixed a thing, they made it worse,” Sinclair said of the government’s move to reduce the HST from 12 per cent to 10 per cent over the next three years. “If (Premier Christy Clark) drops the rate, she loses $1.8 billion out of the money we have to pay for schools and hospitals,” he said, echoing comments Clark made when running for the Liberal leadership and fellow contender Kevin Falcon suggested dropping the rate.
