Prisoners to get 60 days'parole, bail to unclog jails | Allahabad News


Prayagraj: Prisoners in jail across the state, except those convicted or undergoing trial for serious offences like murder, rape etc, will be forthwith considered for release on parole for 60 days for decongesting prisons amid Covid second wave on furnishing personal bond with the undertaking that they shall surrender after the expiry of parole period.
This decision was approved by the High Powered Committee (HPC) in compliance of the directions issued by the Supreme Court in the case of In Re: Contagion of Covid-19 in prisons (1 of 2020). The committee consisted of Acting Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court Sanjay Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary, home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi and Director General (Prisons), UP, Anand Kumar.
