Girls' grammar head warns over students being used as ‘captive audience for political messaging’ from online groups 27 May 2021 • 6:45pm Schools in the UK have faced protests after being caught off guard in the fallout from the Israel-Palestine conflict A girls’ grammar school has warned parents that pupils are “responding to rallying cries on social media” to stage pro-Palestinian protests. Jo Pomeroy, the headteacher, stressed in a letter to parents last week that schools were “apolitical organisations” and “school populations are not to be used as captive audiences for political messaging by anyone”.
