Lucknow: After Allahabad and Mughalsarai, now there is a proposal to rename Jhansi railway station after the local warrior queen Laxmibai, the leading figure of India's first war of independence in 1857. The Jhansi DM confirmed to TOI that a proposal in this regard has been sent to the state government. According to highly placed sources in the government, the proposal is likely to be forwarded to the Centre soon for further action. “The local MP had recommended the change of the name of the railway station. We have given consent on the name-change and sent it to the state government,” the Jhansi DM Andra Vamsi confirmed to TOI.
