A nationwide campaign has been launched to find 25 members of the public, broadly representative of the Irish population, who are willing to be part of a “Citizens’ Jury” on what should happen to a person’s health information. It comes in advance of the creation of a national electronic health record which would have a summary of each individual’s medical information allowing doctors to access it regardless of what health setting the patient is attending instead of the current system where details are not automatically shared. The new campaign from Irish Platform for Patients’ Organisations, Science & Industry aims to get the views of the public on what wider use this information should be put to, such as research.
