WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Purdue Sports) — Five runs in the first two innings proved too large a deficit for the Boilermakers, falling 5-1 in the series opener versus Ohio State on Friday evening.
With the result, Purdue softball moves to 10-23 on the season while Ohio State (18-14) recorded the first win in West Lafayette since 2008.
Relief pitcher Ashley Peters allowed just one run through 5.1 innings of work, entering the game for Savanah Henley (3-7) in the second inning. With the Buckeyes sharp eye, the duo was unable to serve up a strikeout in the meeting.
