Raped toddler sent back to mother weeks later despite signs

Little girl, 2, was raped in Northern Territory by a home intruder in February 2018
She underwent surgery for genital injuries and was found to have gonorrhoea
Doctors also discovered head lice, ear infections, ringworm, and skin sores 
The girl and her siblings were removed from their mother and placed into care 
Report found child protection authorities failed to act on 52 alerts about the kids
Authorities returned the girl, now five, to her mother and she is now 'thriving'
