RBA Governor Philip Lowe’s push to retain a higher welfare payment after the pandemic comes with the broad support of most peak business bodies, according to Cornerstone Group Senior Director James Cullen.
“The RBA governor isn’t Robinson Crusoe here. There is that broad consensus,” he told Sky News
Mr Cullen said the there was a fairness argument and an economic argument which could be used in support of the scheme.
“All peak business bodies are lining up for that extra support”.
“People who are at a lower income level and the unemployed, we know that every dollar that they get, they’re going to spend.”
