NORTH Yorkshire County Record Office is preparing to welcome back researchers into its archive after a prolonged closure because of Covid-19 restrictions. Visitors will be able to return to the search room in Malpas Road, Northallerton, from Tuesday, 27 April, with renewed access to more than five miles of fascinating historic records stretching from the 12th century to the present day. While the office has been closed, staff have been busy behind the scenes. More than 200 boxes of records, ranging from medieval deeds to modern parish council minutes, have been appraised and catalogued and more than 25,000 entries added to the online catalogue .
