CORNWALL, Ontario – The Canadian Red Cross is providing support to 530 evacuees who are currently staying at the Nav Centre in Cornwall. The evacuees are from the community of Deer Lake, ON, which, along with other northern Ontario communities, is currently experiencing wildfires in their area. “The NAV CENTRE is ready to support the individuals and families in Northern Ontario facing these wildfires and has in place appropriate health and safety protocols and is coordinating resources through Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and the Regional Public Health Unit,” reads a statement from Brian Boudreau, Manager for Media Relations at Nav Canada. “The NAV CENTRE has a strong record of assisting communities in emergency situations and has made the necessary preparations to provide support and safe accommodations. We will do our utmost to provide them with comfort during this difficult time.”
