Relief grant helps minimize impact of more than $2 million in lost revenue By Ashley Hanley|2021-03-02T09:12:57-06:00March 2nd, 2021| The Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center was awarded a $450,000 relief grant from the Minnesota Department of Economic Development. Funds will help maintain the Event Center, an important local and regional asset, by covering some of the costs incurred in 2020 and minimizing the loss of more than $2 million in revenue and its impact to the City’s budget. Prior to the pandemic, events drew more than 350,000 people to the community and generated more than $40.5 million a year ($111,000 a day) of local economic impact. Staff continues to look for opportunities to host various events in a safe way.
