Hope. May you find it on Christmas, under your tree — along with your PlayStation 5, Baby Yoda doll or bottle of Scotch. Hope is this year's go-to Christmas gift. And supplies, as you may have noticed, are limited. Perhaps we'll have to make our own hope, in this year of pandemic. And perhaps, some ecologically-minded people suggest, that could start now — with your Christmas tree. "We typically seem to forget about the Christmas tree after the gift exchange happens," said environmentalist Jeremy Walters, a sustainability expert for Republic Services, a nationwide waste and recycling company. "There are things we can do with Christmas trees, to give them that kind of sustainable afterlife," he said.
