Article content Another halt to in-person learning is currently unnecessary in Windsor-Essex even though the number of students dismissed because of potential classroom COVID-19 exposures equals those sent home ahead of the last school shutdown, the regionâs top doctor said Tuesday. While the whopping 600 students and 30 staff now in self-isolation following infections at 24 schools have put a strain on public health unit nurses, the number of positive cases within that group is much lower than in December, when Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed ordered schools to close. Multiple schools had significant outbreaks at that time, but, as of Tuesday morning, no local schools were in outbreak.
