Updated: 9:05 PM EDT Jul 27, 2021 By Russ Reed The Boston Bruins are reportedly bringing back one of their longest-tenured players and another who they recently acquired.Veteran center David Krejci will be coming back to the Bruins, according to New England Hockey Journal managing editor Kirk Luedeke. According to Luedke, a source told him that Krejci and the B's have been wanting to get a deal done.Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, meanwhile, is reporting that Boston is re-signing defenseman Mike Reilly to a 3-year, $9 million deal after landing him a day before the 2021 NHL trade deadline.The reports come a day before Krejci and Reilly officially become unrestricted free agents at noon Wednesday. Krejci, 35, has played all 15 of his NHL seasons with the Bruins, who drafted him with the 63rd overall pick in the second round of the 2004 draft.The Czech Republic native has served as one of Boston's alternate captains for the past eight seasons.Krejci has played 962 career regular-season games and scored 215 goals with 515 assists and a plus-minus rating of plus-143.He has also played 156 career playoff games and scored 42 postseason goals with 82 assists and a plus-23 rating.Krejci was a member of the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup championship team and was on the teams that reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2013 and 2019.This past season, he ranked on the team in scoring after notching eight goals and 36 assists (44 points) in 51 regular-season games. In the postseason, he played in all 11 of Boston's games and tied for fourth on the team with 9 playoff points after scoring two goals and adding seven assists.The 2020-21 season was the final year of the six-year, $43.5 million contract extension that Krejci signed with the Bruins in September 2014.Reilly, 28, was acquired by Boston in an April 11 trade with the Ottawa Senators. The B's sent a 2022 third-round draft pick to the Senators in exchange for Reilly.The left-shot defenseman notched eight assists in 15 regular-season games with the Bruins after the trade and posted a plus-7 rating.In the playoffs, Reilly played in all 11 of Boston's games and recorded four assists with a plus-3 rating. It was the first time he appeared in the postseason in his NHL career.The Minnesota native has played 259 career regular-season games and has eight NHL goals with 72 assists.
