Photo: WDIO-TV. Created: March 02, 2021 05:44 AM Firefighters responded Monday afternoon to a fire aboard a decommissioned ship docked at a Duluth scrapyard. Hubbard Broadcasting sister station WDIO-TV reports the fire was visible from the 118-year-old J.B. Ford, docked at at Azcon Metals on Rice's Point, at 3:20 p.m. At about 3:45 p.m., WDIO reported crews pulled apart a structure on the ship's top deck. The ship had been at its present location since 2016. Duluth city spokesperson Kate Van Daele told WDIO crews were dismantling the ship when a spark ignited the wood in a cabin area.
