Report: Grizzly conflicts 'relatively low' in 2020

The number of grizzlies in northwest Wyoming that were captured, killed or relocated was "relatively low" last year, state wildlife managers reported.
In 2020, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department captured 26 individual grizzly bears in 27 instances in an attempt to prevent or resolve conflicts with humans or livestock.
Eight of the bears were female and 18 were male. (One bear was captured twice.) Two were in Teton County.
Of the captured grizzlies, 18 were "removed from the population," which the report described as meaning they were killed or placed in an approved facility. That happens when they are deemed unsuitable for release back into the wild because of a history of conflicts, human safety concerns, poor health, or because they were cubs unable to fend for themselves, according to the report.
