Lawyer Charles "Chas" Calenda, 39, first signaled his intent to run for attorney general in September when he notified the Board of Elections he had created a campaign fundraising account to run for the office.
He made headlines earlier this month as the lawyer for two fitness centers, in court, challenging the legal authority for the temporary gym shutdown order imposed by Gov. Gina Raimondo to try to protect the public from the coronavirus. The gyms lost the first round.
On Tuesday, Calenda resurfaced in an online blog post in which he blasted Neronha for prosecuting Britt on charges stemming from his role in House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello's 2016 reelection campaign without "rock solid evidence."
