View Comments Johnson County Republicans have tapped Phil Hemingway, 61, to carry the party's standard into another Board of Supervisors special election. He billed his bid as a solution to one-party rule. "Having a different group looking at the books is important," Hemingway told the Press-Citizen on Tuesday. "Everyone should pay attention to that." While the June 8 special election will be his fourth try at a spot on the County Board, he believes he's already had an impact in how even Democrats campaign for the seats. "Everyone is now talking about rural representation since I brought it up," Hemingway said. "The Democrats running talk about it, too."
