Aug. 4 2021 @ 11:05pm River City Habitat for Humanity's ReStore is to remain closed indefinitely because of the spread of COVID-19 in the area, its board announced Wednesday. On Friday, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services sent out a health advisory for Cole and Osage counties, listing them as COVID-19 hotspots. Area hospitals report they are reaching capacity because of the surge in COVID-19 patients. Volunteers at the ReStore are typically retired people. And although they have the time to volunteer at places like Habitat for Humanity, they also are more prone to severe illness should they contract the virus that causes COVID-19.
