RPS moves forward with plan to build schools RPS moves forward with designing, building new schools By Jasmine Turner | April 20, 2021 at 7:54 PM EDT - Updated April 20 at 8:01 PM RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Richmond Public Schools will be moving forward with plans of being in charge of designing and building new schools without the City of Richmond. Monday night, the board voted 5-4 for the superintendent to create job descriptions for positions in line with construction projects. “Moving forward, schools are building school buildings - it’s a simple notion that makes a lot of sense. The way the city and schools had done it before, the projects were managed by the City of Richmond and schools participated as collaborators but really didn’t own the process,” said Kenya Gibson, a member of the school district.
