President trump authorized sanctions against the International Criminal court for its decision to open a war Crimes Investigation in afghanistan the u. K. Now lashing out against the u. S. All right its time to your news i q. Today marks the 21st consecutive day of nationwide protests following the death of george floyd in minneapolis minnesota but now another Deadly Police shooting involving a black man in atlanta is triggering more demonstrations all of this as new congressional legislation is being introduced to address Police Tactics in this country. Outside of congress with more on these developments fair. Some republicans are actually getting ready to bill bring forward a package thats going to be talking about what police can and cannot do now this bill is coming from the only african. American republican in the Senate Senate tim scott of South Carolina which President Donald Trump has signaled his support for many of the items in this bill that has many of the same goals as actually a democratic bill coming out of congress at the moment as well now the bill as one of the most extensive overhauls to policing from republicans what would create a National Database of officers who have been in the us who have been in the use of force incidents requiring Police Officers to wear body cameras restricting police using chokeholds by holding back actually federal funds to Police Jurisdictions that continue to allow it along with deeming lynching a federal hate crime now one of the things that democrats say the bill doesnt have that their piece of legislation does have is the ability for those injured by Law Enforcement to sue for damages senator scott says that is a line too far and has suggested instead a decertification process for any officer involved in misconduct. We should all want to follow the lead as a relates to making sure that we get something accomplished and not just having pieces of legislation that are for show the see if we could actually get a result and make our streets safer for Law Enforcement officers and the communities that they serve. Now i know the senate bill is expected to come out this wednesday and you also have the House Judiciary Committee well they are such a brought their bill this week that this week as well in the house will actually be here next week to take a vote on that monella and now karen what is the latest on the deadly atlanta Police Shooting that happened over this weekend. Right so middle of the Atlanta Police department actually released the 2 photos of the officers that were involved in the Fatal Shooting of 27 year old rae shard brooks in the wendys parking lot friday night take a look here you can see officer Garrett Rolfe the man who fired the fatal shots has been fired officer down in Devon Bronson has been placed on administrative duty and the Atlanta Police chief erica shields she resigned after serving less than 4 years and her position now we want to warn our viewers the video youre about to see may be just serving to youre looking at Surveillance Video friday evening of the 2 officers responding to a complaint that a man was sleeping in his car outside a wendys parking lot blocking the drive through lane now what started out as a civil conversation with brooks quickly escalated into a scuffle on the ground with brooks grabbing a taser from one of the officers and at one point aiming it at the officers as he ran away thats when officer rolfe fired those 2 fatal shots and brooks back now brooks death ignited fresh new protests saturday and sunday which were starting to die down following protests over the death of george floyd with angry protesters setting fire to the wendys where brooks was killed monday morning the family brooks along with the familys lawyers spoke at a News Conference about how the shooting of brooks almost resulted in the death of moore and that crowded wendys parking lot listen here. A witness today said his vehicle. Which was hit by one of the worlds bullets. While he his kids were in the car. A couple feet up and we would have had another loss of life. Now middle of the News Conference ended with the family all crying together leaving the room with their lawyer saying quote i dont know what more America Needs to see ill probably be back soon defending another case nominal of the death of ray sharp brooks has now been ruled a homicide and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Continues to envy. Esta gate the shooting of brooks reporting outside of Congress Fair in france ak party. And the United States and iraq could be on the verge of a landmark decision to withdraw u. S. Troops from that country altogether but with the resurgence of isis still a possibility many are skeptical about whether iraq is able to handle the threat on its own or turn to the us for possibly more support arties rachel weapons is joining us now to discuss the latest events there so rachel is there a chance that we could see an end to u. S. Troop presence there in iraq well there is a chance now its been more than 17 years since the u. S. 1st invaded iraq and they appear more hopeful now than ever that u. S. Troops could finally leave the country now this was actually discussed in a joint statement between both the u. S. And iraq and which they said the 2 countries recognize that in light of significant progress towards eliminating the isis threat over the coming months the u. S. Would continue reducing forces from iraq and discuss with the government of iraq the status of remaining forces as both countries turn their focus towards developing a bilateral security relationship based on strong mutual interests now notably the statement went on to say that the u. S. Is not requesting Permanent Military presence in the country which is actually the exact opposite of what we saw back in 2008 when the countries made an agreement under the Obama Administration yet and what about isis i mean what does that mean for them right was interesting because when it comes to isis the u. S. Has said recently that their only reason for being in iraq is because they want to defeat isis but at the same time the group didnt rise to power until after the u. S. Had already been occupying iraq for more than a decade but now theyre coming back and saying our wait a 2nd lets pull back as long as theres not a resurgence of isis and its interesting because as weve seen reports have said that the group has been ramping up attacks in rural parts of iraq over the last year and they go on to say that both the frequency and character. The attacks have been steadily increasing and there is data that suggests that the Islamic State is moving skilled fighters to the area from syria to stoke and new insurgency and we seem to see more support for isis when the citizens of iraq are unhappy with their government but at the same time the Iraqi Government has the full support of the u. S. So if there are any changes made in that government to make the citizens happy then that could receive backlash from the u. S. And they could want to have a bigger role in the country what about the neighboring countries and the citizens there arent they a little bit concerned if the u. S. Were to finally leave iraq well there is still an ongoing conflict between turkey and the Kurdish Forces and now when it comes to the kurds the u. S. Sees them as one of their strongest allies in the fight against isis but turkey sees them as a real terrorist threat in the region so much so that turkey actually launched a new Bombing Campaign on monday in which it struck more than 80 kurdish targets in Northern Iraq now turkey claims it is responding to attacks on its army bases but iraq has responded by saying the bombings were provoking it and claiming they actually targeted a refugee camp and there are also concerns for relations with iran because the u. S. Has repeatedly accused iran of having too much influence in the Iraqi Government and when the u. S. Killed irans top military general by airstrike earlier this year they did so in iraq and it sparked mass protests so there are still a lot of questions about exactly what u. S. Influence in the country would look like moving forward and if an end to u. S. Troop presence would also mean an end to u. S. Bombings of rachel levin thank you so much for that update thank you. The u. K. Americas oldest and most ardent ally is now standing opposite the u. S. When it comes to the International Criminal court now President Trump has threatened sanctions on certain members of the i. C. C. If they push forward with investigation of them to whether or not certain American Military members including intelligence officials committed any war crimes in afghanistan on this foreign secretary dominic. Abscess the u. K. Strongly supports the i. C. C. And quote tackling impunity for the Worst International crime and joining us to weigh in former u. K. M. P. George Galloway George what say you to the Foreign Ministers remarks on this very muddy issue between the us and the i. C. C. Well you know youve got problems when youve lost the support even of the british government. In the week last week the fact you lost the support of several 2 European Union governments that sub it easier to bear in washington but when the british joined in i think the us has got trouble even in the long history or bull in a china shop diplomacy specially under this administration the threats to the i. C. C. This is judges were talking about lawyers court of fish oils the threats from washington against them were just beyond the pale that crossed the rubicon you do you as his entire told not to extradite soldiers or Intelligence Officers to the i. C. C. Because you dont recognise the i. C. C. About youre not entitled to tell the i. C. C. Which alleged crimes it can investigate because afghanistan which is where these alleged crimes took place is a member of the i. C. C. And so the i. C. C. And afghanistan by law to live are perfectly entitled to investigate anything they like without the threat of a condo and punishment a coming down fire and brimstone from the washington board the arms sure george i mean very good points there but but george the i. C. C. Is primarily a European Union maybe there are only about 70 members across the globe and and much of the worlds biggest players like china russia israel the us included are not members so what good does it do for the i. C. C. To conduct investigations into nonmembers. Well i mean thats true i was one of those skeptical when i was in parliament about the i. C. C. A skepticism which has been borne out by experience the only people sent to prison a by the i. C. C. Are black African Leaders and thats a measure of how limited their power view is but afghanistan is a member of it and if its alleged that there were crimes committed by u. S. Personnel in afghanistan the i. C. C. Which is julie constituted court by the way the United States did support the beginning and has cooperated with it in the past the u. S. Isnt titled not to be involved its entitle not to deliver up accused people for the court but its not entitled to send bullets of lightning the court on threaten them with all kinds of sanctions should at least unless you want to lose all your friends in the world thats the whole point youre going to lose every friend you ever had with this kind of conduct but its certainly concerning like you said when the u. K. Stepped back in enjoins the other side of this argument and lastly george as for President Trump whatever his reasoning behind these sanctions on the world stage what does this move to look like to the people doesnt reek of or to that at least appear to be an attempt to obfuscate the truth. Yes well look you cant see you are the worlds policeman the world sheriff about you want in a court and in fact you will leave the court a scorched earth if they dare to question your conduct and its this picture of lawlessness whilst posing as the people who can tell other. Drus what to do and how to live their lives that has so drastically reduced the soft power of the u. S. Over recent years long before i should see someone like me manalo was brought up believing in america we were brought up in a vision of america not as the bad. As the gang stuff but something better. And that soft power has almost all been lost if i put that to my children my teenage son is sitting a few yards away america or something to look up to you wouldnt know whether to laugh or cry ive got to tell you that wow yeah americas image certainly has eroded over the past 2 decades george unfortunately weve got to leave it right there always appreciate your insights George Galloway there in london for us thank you. V. Im holland cook i invite you to climb with me of the Mainstream Media empire and from that higher fat age to glimpse the big picture question more. Nationwide protests continue were following the death of george floyd weeks now and tensions rising yet again after another black man was shot and killed by police a planet just a few days ago this as calls to defund the police echo from new york to california meanwhile criticism of the media come from all sides of this debate so joining us from both sides of this debate civil rights attorney and radio talker Robert Patillo and republican congressional candidate for district 7 in maryland miss kim clay sick are joining us now. Ladies and gents thank you for being with us so kim i will go to you 1st as a new politician youve been Monitoring Monitoring all the tapping across this country and in your city of baltimore you have been very vocal on these matters on social media it would appear to me that that you want folks to stop these riots and stop these calls for defunding the police and focus on steps to actually fix systematic problems so what does that look like to you. Absolutely thanks for having summer station i guess my mind this is a bipartisan issue i think we can all come together on this so much its got i think it is putting a great bill forward in the senate and i would love to see what the house prints together i believe everyones talking about basically the same thing i dont know anyone that watched that video of george floyd being killed and thought you know what the police deserve another shot we should you know do anything about it i think everybody was a call in disturbed and we want to fix the system but at the same time you know i was here during the riots in 2015 in baltimore after the friday gray and we had billions of dollars that were support into the pen or scored were those riots happened and i was fortunately that money still hasnt touched the ground in 2020 and that was federal funds that was sent this way and thats why im running for office but at the same time its you know we talk a lot about what we can do or what we should. We continue to keep this can down the road weve got to do something defining the police in my opinion its not the way to go sure we should do an audit we should understand why some police have so much overtime i get it in the baltimore we spend a lot of money our police arent but our police have a lot to do you know just last
