Quarter this year but that was mostly through up through really a lot of direct owners and thats mostly through retirement for a one k. Things like that thats not people out earning money on the stock thats people whose businesses or retirement plans through their businesses put their money or start work youre absolutely correct and today when you have a predominance of the American Workforce that is doing gave economy work that means that they are not only in most cases not full time employees and they dont have benefits they also dont have a 41 k. In existence this is it 203040 years ago where people were looking to that you know part of their retirement plans and there are a lot of folks today who dont know what those retirement plans are going to look like and are dont even have enough money in their savings to consider anything related to retire because the bottom half of all earners only one 3rd thats earners as people with a job actually were lucky enough to have only one 3rd are actually invested in any kind of equities or stocks compared to more than 90 percent and 90 percent of fair. Hes in the top 10 percent of income basically the stock market is a rich mans game and when you look at what how the pandemic has affected all those yelp reports that the review site yelp reports that 60 percent of businesses have had to close during this pandemic Small Businesses and that are now permanently shut youre never going to get them back so guess what your big your big corporate people who got bailed out the most from congress and donald trump theyre fine every other business struggling more than 60 percent and i think thats important thing to note because it shows what congress prioritize and thats an argument for both sides i mean i lean more on the liberal side of things why i think about this that is something that democrats could have in the house controlled more than they did what we saw was that stimulus package money the money that was supposed to bail people out in large part went to corporations or in it went to the state organization it did not go to the Small Businesses which are the engines of not only American Innovation but also employment for people across the globe and look you know colors a big issue here you know in this in this country right now and when you look at who really has money in wall street im sorry wall street is one of the whitest streets in america when you really break it down 18 percent of the value of stockholm by american households was held by white families compared to get this just 1. 2 percent by black families. To 1. 2 percent just point 5 percent of wall street is held by hispanic families thats a massive gap wall street is a wealthy white mans game and always has been its almost like monopoly. At the end of the day if youre somebody who is not in that range youre not a part of that power structure where you have a quarter of a 1000000. 00 for the most part you are not watching stock daily youre not getting your investment youre not your investment portfolio isnt that you most americans are just worried about keeping food on the table making sure there are enough cover for the next month they are not ever tempted to the stock market because the stock market doesnt necessarily affect their day to day work no. William spriggs a professor of economics at Howard University and the f l c i os chief economist of the basically said quote when the stock market goes up that exacerbates wealth inequality for blacks and for hispanics because they just dont own the stocks and thats thats the honest to god truth and thats whats sad because we talk about wanting to get money into those communities stable real money into those dreams but guess what this is interesting all that money that should be going to the people is going upwards as we know jeff bezos the big dogs you know theyre all just sucking up the wealth of this country but thats not just true for the u. S. Thats around the world in fact a report out of scotland found that the richest 20 families have as much wealth as the bottom 30 percent of the population this is a global issue that we need to start addressing now. Another day another headline of an unarmed black man being murdered by a Police Officer though 31 year old Jonathan Price lost his life on saturday lou News Coverage spoke of the murder until today because today officer sean lucas was charged with murder of course the bents that actually happened swiftly considering in most cases it takes weeks or months one officer to be arrested and charged after a fatal shooting. Could this incident turn the tide lets dig deeper Jonathan Price was a pillar of his community a City Employee of volunteer and well known Public Servant price witnessed a fight at the local gas station and with that he texas between a woman and a man and he intervened price was attempting to diffuse the situation and reduce any potential harm to the woman and at some point a passer by presumably called Law Enforcement but by the time theyd arrived pryce had already defuse the situation. Price was truly a hero that likely prevented a complete stranger from suffering from Domestic Violence but when Police Arrived on the scene pryce was given anything but a heros welcome by the camera footage showed Police Officer lucas tasing price even though there was no aggressive or threatening posture that would have supported that level of force. Pryce was actually walking away when he was struck by alexa wave of the stun gun and after that already an unnecessary use of force the Police Officer then proceeded to shoot price in the back but times price was unarmed according to an official statement from the Texas Rangers with camera footage the rangers now say the preliminary investigation indicates quote the actions of officer lucas were not objectionably reasonable. Officer lucas has since been arrested and charged with murder his bond is set for 1000000. 00. Well that is a credible lead what were looking at with this because it just it just boggles my mind it was happy to see that we might like i mean what do you think do you think that this is a turning point were some departments across this country are saying hey rather than the longer that theres so rather than claim that you know were going to put it were going to charge someone with charge an officer with murder when they act over the line like this i think this case presents its own bit of differences from some of the other ones that weve seen 1st and foremost there is somebody who is still who was there on the scene who also witnessed this happen the woman who actually got involved in engaging in disrupting that fight where it looked like she was being threatened by a male but the other thing that is very interesting here is that the Texas Rangers and the Police Officers have already you know the police force has already come out because they had to the video had already been released. Showing that this may and pose absolutely no threat not even for the stun gun much less him actually being shot in the back 3 times this was somebody who is technically a pillar of the community he had come in to try to stop a fight which is something we would expect or at least hope for if i am is just passing by and sees that a woman is being threatened but the interesting note i want to make here was that this is the type of hero conservatives tried to make rittenhouse remember the young man who decided he was. Going to take a gun and travel you know to a whole nother state. And wound up killing multiple people and conservatives talked about it is though he was somebody who was protecting his community and that wasnt even a community in this case this is where Jonathan Price was born and raised this is his place this is a place where he is known this is a place where he is respected he works for City Government a place where all of his neighbors know who he is he saw something he decided to do something tried to intervene and wound up losing his life well. Its interesting when you really look like when you point out that this was somebody who you know is well if you put all the chalk marks that you know you see a lot of times in white Media Literacy like White Conservative youre like well this person was clearly you know a bad guys so somehow they deserved to get choked out or this person had a criminal record so somehow they deserved to get you know to get shot 6 times in the butt but as you point out this wasnt this guy so theres no excuse for this but why is that somebody has to have this pristine record to actually see charges correctly brought against the police when the record shouldnt even come into play it should be the actions of police right well by somebody you mean black people you know they dont know exactly you know translation i think that part of that is how america sees black people specifically black men is always having to prove themselves innocent 1st and thats not something that you know that that happens when white men are involved in this type of thing so i think that in this case were seeing quite frankly an expeditious process in him being charged this happened on saturday so just a few days later there are already charges hes already been arrested that is unheard of and police and ball shootings its i do think that thats a very important point to note i think it is a good point to note i mean i would hope that were going to see. You know because thats how many cases we see it even with body can footage and things like that roll over and over and over and over again where its costly like you see the police union step in then everyone then let the gears of justice just stop and roll slowly. Maybe this is that i hope its a sign that later you know what will people shoot people who are unarmed who are trying to help people in our community that maybe we should actually hold cops accountable when they step over bounds like this absolutely and there is a Facebook Post that christ did just like 4 months ago that is now being brought to light may think that its important for our viewers to see that as well and the Facebook Post price that there were times i should have been detained for speeding outstanding 5 patients outdated registration dozing off at a red light before making it to my garage Downtown Dallas after a long night i passed a sobriety test after leaving a bar while in texas by 2 white cops and they still let me drive to where i was headed and by the way they consider wiley texas to be very racist ive never got that kind of energy from the po po nothing black lives no matter but dont forget about your own or your experiences the road and waking up. So its coming to light that. It seems that price wasnt necessarily somebody who was gung ho about to be a Limb Movement he himself had necessarily experienced a lot of Police Violence or Police Interrogation in the past and felt as though he was in a Safe Community so now it is even though these times are clearly pointed out by him himself and in his own words he felt as though he was treated fairly by Police Officers or may have even gotten off from some things that he might not have thought that he would have there still comes that point where you could lose your life you know theres always going to be that point where its going to be the wrong and i hate to say that i hate to say that but its true its like brought the point that up perfectly its like hey you might not experience these kind of ills on a day to day basis that you hear other people talking about that your other people marching about but that doesnt mean im going to come around and affect you at some point absolutely and i think about something we all have to remember i couldnt agree with you more could not agree with you more all right everybody as we go to break remember that you can also start watching the hawks on demand. In vermont people are demanding the shutdown of a local plant for my yankee is right now my focus because its a very dangerous oh no care power plant the owner is attempting to run the reactor beyond its operational limits this case just sort of puts a magnifying glass on wheres the power in this country wheres it going is it moving more towards corporate interests or is it more in the idea of a traditional participatory democracy as are powerline with the people this case demonstrates that struggle in very real ways our struggle on r. Already made in the shallowness. The u. S. Supreme court is in the spotlight again and this time it has nothing to do with the Controversial Supreme Court justice boys to feel the seat left vacant by the late Justice Ruth Bader ginsburg nope this time the highest court in the land is making news for taking all one of americas favorite pastimes baseball. The Supreme Court recently denied the request to dismiss a lawsuit that seeks to increase wages for Minor League Players this could be a watershed moment for wage parity but it doesnt come without hurdles here to tell us more is our team Sports Correspondent jeanne i have welcomed you. Well regina this lawsuit by Minor League Baseball players was given the green light to go ahead and trial court even though the Supreme Court denied a request to take the case can you give us the quick notes version about lawsuit its pretty basic when you drill down to it meaning it Minor League Baseball 2014 decided they werent being paid enough and major League Baseball said yes you are thats the nuts and bolts if you want to dig a little bit deeper into it they were getting paid less than 7500. 00 a year to put that in perspective the poverty line in the u. S. Is 12760. 00 a year and some of these statistics you see on salaries on the menu League Baseball structure are shocking if youre a rookie or youre playing a short season 290. 00 a month i think they spend that money on gas so players decided they needed to have a better advocate and to actually make a livable wage 20 actually snuck in a little bill and some federal legislative action that is called the save americas pastime act and what that did is argue that they were Seasonal Workers they do not deserve to be paid a wage they would pay a yearly worker so this isnt a 6 Year Court Battle to get some sort of wage parity and mannerly baseball is still fighting paying a livable wage to arguably its farm system or this is where your up and coming stars are coming out of and theyre like you know what youre seasonal we dont pay a much thats the round of it its interesting because you know weve heard over and over good news or stories about how major League Baseball is kind of shown their face with their inability to support their 4 teams and now you have this kind of attempt to socially disregard fair pay for these players who arent in the big league spotlight could be called up or spend their entire career there the league wants to know. Do you feel you teams from the Minor Leagues from basically small town baseball is this common this shows its like a blatant middle finger disregard to your farm system which is essentially where youre getting every year your next crop of potential superstars or just you know players absolutely if you look at the fact that Minor League Baseball and major League Baseball they have their talks of falling apart to kind of form a new p. P. A. So essentially major League Baseball it would take over everything and there are 160. 00 farm team system it starts a single day goes up to aaa which is pretty much one step below the majors they would get a 40 teams now that is 40 teams w
