Drug maker to report an efficacy rate above 90 percent for its covert 1000 vaccine. The promising results are lifting hopes as global cases exceed, 55000000 and deaths total. More than 1300000. 00. Several countries are imposing travel restrictions or simply limiting public gatherings. This comes one week after russias Health Ministry announced its sputnik 5 vaccine is also 90 percent or 92 percent effective on tuesday during the annual bric summit host, russian president Vladimir Putin said the Russian Direct Investment Fund has reached agreements with its brazilian and indian partners on conducting Clinical Trials of the sputnik by vaccine. It has also reached an agreement with pharmaceutical companies in china and india to launch production of the vaccine in these countries. Not just to cover their needs, but for 3rd countries as well. Putin also proposed creating a Vaccine Research center for brics countries, brazil, russia, india, china, and south africa. For more on this and the vaccine, and were joined by truck tour of the Vaccine Education Center of the Childrens Hospital of philadelphia, dr. Paul offit. Dr. Thank you for joining us today. I want to start with asking you this about russias vaccine dubbed the sputnik 5. Theres a lot of controversy surrounding the data. What can you tell us about the efficacy of this vaccine . Its not much the, the press release that they put out shows that they in their trial would be a conceivable control proof back to base free trial. They only have 20 cases of the moment. So you really cant make any statements about efficacy yet until you have 4 more people than that. I mean that the 2 u. S. Trials for what their own advisors are looking to get to 165 cases will that where they feel you can more confidently make statements. And right now there are sort of a 90 percent range in terms of if you can believe that its a suggestion. Lets wait and see. And we know other other countries have been and have started already testing that vaccine as well. So hopefully more data will come out from that. But here in the United States under operation, our speed so far, we have 2 vaccines that have more than 90 percent efficacy. Pfizer reported just above the 90 percent and modern of this week reported in 94. 5 efficacy, right . These are both new technologies. Is the high efficacy because of this approach . Do you know its a process, you know, weve never abused messenger r. N. A. Its a way to make a vaccine before, so i wasnt sure what to expect. Its looks amazing. I mean, you know, we just had this virus and here, january, we had the genes that code for this virus and he had in january. And now its november. We have 2 large Clinical Trials, 44000 people, 30000 people with the efficacy, at least from these press releases, look good. Again, its like science by press release. Im really looking forward. I wish data will match the f. D. A. Is actually guys are committed, will see the state are probably in december, so will be able to look much more closely to see exactly who they protect that may save 94. 5 percent of the embassy for who and so will sit right, especially because of this new technology, which many experts do say that the m. R. I. Hasnt been more helpful. Leeson develop being this vaccine, but because this is new, is there a possibility that there might be some long term side effects . Not only that, but looking at the time, like you said, we, we dont, we didnt know about the virus in for even even a year ago. So the fact that it, its just, its been released the data or at least the reports show that we have this efficacy so high in such little time. Usually it takes over a decade to, to even make a vaccine. I mean, i was fortunate to be in love with the team, the Childrens Hospital, so look at me, the root of our sex and there was a 26 year effort. I mean, who will do it 60 or 20 years . Its all been done with that. I mean, i think youre point is a great with, which is that here you have this virus, this bad corona virus. Its just made the state, the occupation. Its cause a number of clinical pathological changes. You would never predict, you know, like that. It causes inflammation, blood vessels, who would have ever predicted that for respiratory virus. And now were meeting it with a series of vaccine, a strategy, its never been used for you, which theres no commercial experience. Im sure theres going to be a learning curve here over the next 2 years, so, you know, right. I think we need to keep our eyes open as we move forward and be humble in all this. Well, dr. We also want to ask you about all the excitement going around, obviously about the vaccine. What do we know about the actual rollout . One, for example, are saying theyre requiring 2 doses, 4 weeks apart. Theres a lot of a lot of an ant answer questions about just distribution. The vaccine made by pfizer needs to be kept in minus 70 degree celsius. Thats colder than a winter in antarctica. This has got this clearly going to make it very expensive and more difficult to correct. Yes, i mean that the Pfizer Vaccine has to be shipped in short minus 73 centigrade, which means dry ice. Weve never done that before in this country. One stall, it can only be in a refrigerator for 24 hours before s. P. C. Thrown away because theyre concentrated. Multidose, spouse by doses provide 10 votes throughout its concentrated so they have to be reconstituted when theyre reconstituted. You only have 6 hours before you have to throw it away. So i think were going to have to line people up and make sure that they get them one after the next step for the next. So its going to be johnny, for many reasons. This distribution plant and another hurdle for the vaccine could be public mistrust. We know that in early september, a gallup poll was saying that americans up only 50 percent of americans were willing to get the vaccine. Now, because of the efficacy rate, that number has gone up to 58 percent, but thats still pretty low. And i think will happen if the vaccine will get out there and it will be given to essential workers Like Health Care workers, people in transportation, people, law enforcement, water purification, people, work towards resorts, obviously. Then theyll start to get in hundreds of thousands of people get it and know you can get it and people feel a lot better. Weve got to save it. Thats the. But it doesnt cause even aware or serious. And i think more people will see over time, hopefully with more and more people are racist actually more. Well, not only that, but dr. Also, you know, just how are they going to be . Of course, for americans are saying that by q 2 well be able to see it. But what about for other countries for poor countries who arent as developed . When can, when should they expect to get Something Like this that some say not until 2024. What will sort of, you know, we have, there are 7000000000 people plus on this planet, and we dont need any more information at this point. You realize what happens one country can affect all countries. So we are, while all, essentially one country we, the United States has a responsibility because of our technological advances or economic advantages to other countries of this world. So i think eventually, you know, we have to make sure that we even notice not only ourselves, but immunize, all of those countries who benefit from this is good news about the m. R. I. New technology. Lets draw on a technology. And if you can synthesize that molecule, its not that hard. You can make one want to get the lead doses that 8 year. So i think i think we will get there in the next few years. Well, hopefully because weve gotten this far at least, and the last not even year yet of knowing the krona virus and already hopeful that this vaccine will work and hopefully not have any long term side effects. Right now if you look at transit, your popularity is really 16 percent of what it was during the peak. So for basically everybody was trying to get into the how to get our exchanges. So rumor is now calling this the rally that no one is talking about. And thats actually a good thing because i mean, isnt this rally is driven right . Smart money and Institutional Investors have been adding to their positions rather than everyone just 3 years ago. So in 2017 and that bull run crowds characterized by speculation theyve given how new exchanges were there with a lot of liquidity. And either there was also just a few whales who really believe the price or call. But now 3 years later down the road, we have much more mature technology, more alternative stable clients, us in addition to like rescue and more whales than ever. So theres also the possibility that a lot of retailers who got there are really those who jumped in on the hype and bought it 20000 only to see a drop. Im 150 percent. Couple months later its likely that they are still. And so we dont have a lot of room for less excited about this sort of fear of another. So theres no rush to have been pretty, you know, just not right show that its primarily the driving. So you have all to john cena and why is there any early invest in apple stock say, you know micro strategy going to talk about iraq here . You call it the worlds best collateral. And stanley jump in earlier said i think that will networks, the big one that will probably work better. So weve been calling this dish a little on the shelf for a really long time now. And its proven itself time and time again to be a tremendous storm. So long gold is already up, 23 percent, and 2020 point is now up 125 percent. You know, all that. What do you think . Do you think all this hype put a would have had more people kind of just jump on it. Do you agree with christiane this . Yeah, i think im going to couple really important points, but one of the biggest is that it goes back to 2017. In the fact the market and big coin was abused at that time. It wasnt just misused. It was abused by people who wanted cheap money. They wanted to jump in, you know, at 15000 and then watch it, you know, in 2 weeks later, see it now be worth 17000. That was the expectation. And a lot of people got burned by that, but i dont believe that they were burned by because they were burned by something called greek. Greed drove people to jump in and decide that this should think should be worth a whole lot. Instead of staying the course and by the way for right now, at 17000. 00, and its going to only go up from here, i believe, and it will come back down at times and then continue to go up and down. But for those who are getting in today, if youre one of those people watching and youre interested in doing this, understand it needs to be an investment, a Long Term Strategy, not a hey, if i get into day it better be worth more tomorrow than it is today we dont get into anything thinking that its going to work that way and certainly not quite. So you need to be able to treat it, at least with enough respect to get into it, and have a Long Term Strategy of watching the development of that coin and watch it grow over time. The other thing that tells you its different the last time around. If you look at the old coins, whats happening with the theory im in with bitcoin cash, and a lot of these other like light coin, the sum of those alternative points. What youll find is they are not rising at the same rate that they didnt 2017 while big queen is. Well interesting, you say that the next stop for a big coin is higher, a lot of analysts are predicting it going to reach 22000. Christie, do you agree . Do you believe that im people need to obviously invest that much like not in a temporary form, but more in a long term. You know, definitely i think i think wind is going to get to 22000. I dont think its going to stop at 22000 of that. So you, me so sure. I like that said my kids already have a little bit of correction here and there, and thats why a healthy, well, theyre going to drop out of france where and regain its legs again is perfectly normal. And i really dont think its just going to stop or 20000 it will keep going because there is a lot of momentum and a lot, you know, when i next. So, i mean, if we can just funding rates, those are still neutral. Which means that theres still a decent balance between buyers and sellers. So the market isnt really overheated yet. The average family rate is still just her right around point 01 percent, which is the war. And then the most important thing is that these wind buyers this time around, like ben said, there are not speculators, you dont, long term holders. And we know that because the latest survey showed about 125000 big plans have come out of the exchanges, are cast much. This outflow on the exchanges shows that there is no desire to sour or slow or train radically off of exchanges to cowrite origin or another opportunity, or especially learn off that its her people who actually want to invest and the long term and really know the big market boom bust cohost Christine Benson on. This includes, of course tweets from President Trump and whether they should have been taken down all together. Will arties rachel . Just the latest. Rachel, what did we hear about these social media platforms from them and how they handled the election . Well, there was a lot of division, specifically between democrats and republicans in how they responded to these new policies that were introduced by facebook and twitter. On one hand, you had republicans saying that they went too far with the restrictions that they added to content that they said was false or misleading. And then on the other hand, you had democrats saying that they didnt go nearly far enough. Now one of the topics that came up were of course, President Trumps tweet soon as election day. And the fact that he has repeatedly tweeted saying he won the election or saying that it was rigged. And twitters choice to then put labels on those tweets or to restrict access to them, instead of taking them down altogether. Take a listen to what was said. I guess you see my concerns are that these tweets arouse people. And it seems to me that the entity that runs this operation ought to have an understanding that when there is a major situation, that the tweets can play a unique role. Our policy is focused on misleading information around the election process to provide greater context commission. Now, endorsing event went on to say that he sees value in leaving those tweets up, but that he wanted to add some extra resources so that people could go check out additional links to other information about what was really going on. What was said, weve heard a lot about section 230. What was said today. We know that a lot of these, these 2 parties have been in agreement about that, is that still the case . Yeah, that really was the one area where they seem to be able to still come together was in their criticism of section 230. 00. And you know, were talking about a provision that shield social media sites from the liability on the content posted by their users. So of course there is that frustration with facebook and twitter when they decide to take actions against their users. And you have a lot of lawmakers saying that they are able to take that action but not have any responsibility behind it. Now that then turn into a conversation on whether sites like facebook and twitter have some sort of blacklist where they put users that they target. Take us know, is that, is there a list of every user were every content creator who has been deep platform or had their contents reach, altered or have had some other adverse action taken by either facebook or twitter or im not aware of anything like that exists certainly one of our we took an action, its recorded somewhere. You know, now there was a lot of criticism of section 230. 00 specifically, but there werent Many Solutions presented. And there also was a lot of talk about some of the negative things that could happen if section 2000 is taken away altogether. And facebook too has been criticized her. Whether it is that a platform, is that a publisher . What was what was said during these hearings . What, what was there was response was, especially with the timing in the election. You had that conversation come up because you see facebook and twitter and they are presented as platforms where you and i can go and post content. But then you also see that added pressure towards them to police the content to make sure that theres no misleading content actually around in the election. So that was a conversation that was taken up
