Russian convicts might be assigned to work on Siberian reforestation KRASNOYARSK. May 20 (Interfax) - The Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) is eyeing the establishment of a correctional center in Siberia to grow seedlings for reforestation projects, FSIN Director Alexander Kalashnikov said. "Reforestation is the issue. This is a highly relevant issue for Siberia, considering that it is hard to restore forests after fires. We are hoping to establish a correctional center, correctional areas where new technologies will be used to grow seedlings for planting in every part of Siberia," Kalashnikov said at a meeting of the Coordination Council of Human Rights Commissioners in Krasnoyarsk on Thursday.
