RV ON RIDER SHORTAGE – WE’RE ONTO IT April 8, 2021 4:10 pm By Matt Stewart, Racing Editor Racing Victoria has launched a track rider skills program aimed at furnishing the skills of track riders and is exploring a number of programs aimed at arresting the current crisis. In a statement, RV said today that a rider accreditation program launched in November 2020 “to ensure the competency of track riders and provide a framework for upskilling” would be implemented for new track riders in July this year and in August for those already accredited to ride trackwork. “We see the track rider accreditation as being a benefit to the industry by not only assessing and ensuring a rider can perform their job in a safe and competent manner, but to also help identify and progress those riders suitable for upskilling from slow through to fast work,” the statement read.
